Um and I think um confidentiality is really, really important.

Um and also um uh I suppose showing that you can be trustworthy.

So um uh

uh in m my situation that would be um being clear about not making judgments early on about someone's gender uh based on how they present or um how I think they present or what it said in the letter from their G P when they come and see me.

I think I am.

I mean it's um it's always gonna be slow I think um because large institutions do move slowly.

Um but certainly um I'm seeing a lot of um of goodwill uh with colleagues at um when I'm at conferences for example um presenting about um about trans issues.

Um people will

come up to me afterwards and say, Oh um, how can I be better at this?

Or um how can I change my practice to be more inclusive?

Or what can my institution do to improve things?

Um and certainly a lot of the questions that get asked from the audience are along those lines.

Um I think also individual hospitals or institutions are are getting better at changing their situations.

Um things that um seem simple to cisgendered people but um actually are a big deal um like um having inclusive access to toilets, um, like um having forms like Grace mentioned earlier that um that are inclusive when with the language used on forms.

Um and we, uh at one of the hospitals I work at, we um uh went through and um educated a lot of different people in the hospital about trans issues.

Um, even simple things like um the the staff who bring in the meals, um, just to sort of explain that sometimes the person sitting in the bed um may not appear as um as the other patients in the hospital appear and um and that was something that actually was was really, really helpful.

Um and I think um

uh part of it is actually trans visibility.

So um uh making um trans people feel comfortable by by talking about trans people in a positive way.
