I use trauma therapy in the context of the couples sessions, uh you know, one on one with someone but their partner is witnessing.
And I often hear that that's never been done for you know in their experience and they've never had that approach before.
And a lot of times the the trauma work by nature is dealing with something that is decades old.
So let alone moving on in ten minutes, we're talking about tens of years that people have been holding on to things.
And and of course, there's good reason for that.
Trauma is impactful in
in a lot of ways and shapes us.
You know, one of the phrases I use all the time with couples and
People in general, friends too for that matter.
Is that your nervous system's only job is to keep you alive.
Doesn't care about your relationship, it doesn't care about your salary, doesn't care about your hobbies, like it's only there to keep you alive.
And so if it learns that something can be a threat to your safety,
It's going to be on high alert for that in the future, and that's essentially hyper arousal in in a nutshell.
I think I have thirty different stories to tell there.
Um
So let's just take a couple pieces of that.
Um
In my experience and there's research now that's starting to sh to show this as well, uh, that what attracts people initially to their partner later becomes a hindrance.
And I think that with people that are on the spectrum or have an ADHD diagnosis, sometimes that can
seep into your personality in a really significant way that again initially shows up as attractive and later becomes an issue.
