Yeah, magnesium is helpful for sleep, but there's no point taking extra if you already produce enough.
So if people are not sleeping well,
Magnesium is going to help you if you had a deficiency, but if you didn't, because people say, oh, magnesium doesn't help me, and other people say, oh, it helps me.
Well, probably it's helping the people because they didn't have enough magnesium to start with.
And taking magnesium, it isn't without risks because certain people, people with kidney issues, it can cause a bit of diarrhea.
So you do want to be aware that it's not just a blanket more is more situation.
And the science, no one says in the medical world that everyone should take magnesium for sleep because it's more complex than that.
If you're struggling with your sleep, then typically, you know, a doctor may well look at a full blood count because things like there might be a thyroid issue that's affecting your sleep.
There might be iron or ferritin deficiencies, especially with restless leg syndrome, which is very common in people who are menopausal.
And that's often a sign of an iron issue.
Again, magnesium levels, vitamin D levels.
Basically, if we have a deficiency in something, it's likely to affect our energy levels during the day and it might affect our sleep as well.
But that's not the same thing as saying that we should all have X supplements because, like I said, the evidence just isn't there to prove that it's something that everyone should be taking.
I would say get a mouthguard, yeah.
Because a mouthguard, what you're talking about is like clenching your jaw during the night.
And a mouthguard, which you can get from a pharmacy or you can get fitted by your dentist.
And I would recommend that.
And it will just help to cushion the clenching.
It can be really, really helpful.
And of course, it's often related to stress.
