And what's challenging is our healthcare system hasn't really adopted adapted.
Um, it's so fragmented and fractionated.
Uh, so that you know, the adult is getting referred getting treated somewhere, the child is getting treated for one piece somewhere else.
Um they don't talk to the school.
Uh it's really changed and it's really challenging now.
Maybe it's a Seattle phenomenon, but it's not small.
I mean, it is very, very prevalent.
Um and uh what's surprising is, you know, the child is doing well and the parent will say, Oh, they're masking.
Um the child is getting straight A's, doing well socially.
Um and again, this is where the str strength based approach is important.
Uh highlighting this child has many strengths and does not have impairment, and why would we give them the burden of a psychiatric disorder?
label and we're certainly not going to rec recommend medication.
So there's like a psychoeducation piece about what ADHD is.
And I think one of the challenges is that there's a lot of misunderstandings about what ADHD is.

Well sleep is sleep is so important in that um
Uh it can mimic ADHD symptoms.
Um, in the case of a child that has a primary sleep disorder.
Um uh that can actually cause ADHD in some cases, minority of cases.
More commonly it exacerbates it.
