Once you start testing those barriers, you might find that you're wrong in ways that you wouldn't have otherwise.

And then how you choose to engage or the opportunities you have to engage or connect with people, that's going to vary across people, right?

It's going to differ the context they live in, the opportunities that they have.

You might learn, for instance, that when you go to a party, maybe your husband's got some good practices here.

Maybe you sit down and have a conversation with a person.

you get to know them a little bit better, actually create a connection.

Exactly.

That's exhausting.

That's not a social connection.

That's about social exhaustion, right?

Take opportunities to connect that you might otherwise be overlooking is likely to make your life a little bit better.

But yes, thinking about introversion as a belief you have about yourself that might not be serving you well, might be a misplaced barrier, I think is a wise way to do it.

We have not studied that systematically.

What we have found is that conversations that tend to be deeper...

where you're asking more meaningful questions of other people, those conversations tend to be better.

That's what we know about what creates differences in the quality of conversation over time.

We have not looked systematically in different kinds of conversations, but of course there are, right?
