So the best way to relax your pelvic floor muscles is in a squatting position.
So historically, when people used to go to the bathroom, there were outhouses in the backyard and you would squat over a hole in the ground.
As we became more...
civilized and had more resources we moved bathrooms inside and then we put a chair or a you know a toilet over this hole in the ground which is how we got to modern day pooping posture but again to recreate that squatting position putting a stool under your feet elevates your feet and puts you into that squat and that relaxes your pelvic floor muscles
So you sit down, feet on the stool, lean forward, and instead of holding your breath to push out as you're pooping, I tell you to exhale like you're blowing out 50 birthday candles.
So that prevents you from holding your breath, which again can weaken your muscles and lead to incomplete emptying.
So stool under the feet, lean forward, exhale like you're blowing out birthday candles.
And it will change your life.
I think once you get one of these stools in your bathroom, David, you're going to be like, how have I been not pooping this way my entire life?
No, just rest onto your elbows in a comfortable, relaxed position.
So, and you know, I tell...
People who are teaching their kids how to poop, like I've got two little kids, I'm like, put your feet on the stool.
It helps you relax better.
If you are in, you know, Asia or the woods or India, we all squat over the ground in those situations because it's much more physiologically natural.
And now we're reverse engineering that in our Western civilization by putting the stool under your feet.
It can if you're straining and not emptying well, totally.
So, you know, I see, I think we often think of pelvic floor problems like leakage or
You know, weakness of these pelvic floor muscles in older women or women with babies.
But this can happen at any age from this improper pooping because you're straining and straining weakens things over time.
And that can lead to some of the things you mentioned, leakage of urine, leakage of gas or stool, like not able to hold in your bowel movements till you get to the bathroom in time.
