And I think the question that we're all asking is, how can I become my best self?
How can I grow?
How can I come up?
And I'm saying to them...
You know, really trust that the pain maps the path.
It's not that it's sort of a detour that you've got to go down.
You've got to go down there and pay the man before you get back on the road of life and have a fun time.
It's actually pain maps the way.
And these feelings we have are not unpleasant.
But somebody recently was just saying something that they don't feel pleasant or happy, but...
They feel right in the way that when you correct a picture on a wall that's been crooked and you've settled the picture and it looks right.
You may not like the picture, but it looks right and you feel better because the picture is level.
And sometimes I think when we have these feelings and we connect with them, you know, I'm upset, Brendan, I'm upset.
I need to say this.
Then tears may come or not, but the point is I feel more...
authentic in that moment i think and i think that's how we grow i don't i think the notion that we just get more and more sane and more and more rational is is the wrong it's just i don't think it's possible for anybody anyway but it's certainly not my experience of how human beings become themselves you know they grow through difficult times okay so don't don't run away from it
And when you can express your feelings, I guess the other thing is saying you discover also your strength, your resilience.
You discover that not only that you want to grow, but actually you find the strength to grow.
Emotions are there to give us the energy and the strength we need, the spark we need to keep moving towards what's difficult in our lives.
