I think sometimes that's hiding.
It's sometimes repression.
It takes a lot of energy.
It's exhausting.
And I think when we cry, we release a lot of that energy and we activate a lot of very deep emotions.
biological processes in us that begin to allow us to calm and feel calm and feel soothed.
So very often after a cry, we just feel enormous relief.
It's not that it's easy for us to cry, but we do feel that sense of relief, that sense of this is me, this is where I'm at now.
Not just now, not forever, but just now this is where I'm at.
Yeah, I mean, I think... Yeah, I'm trying to think about that, Brendan.
I think it can take us by surprise sometimes, really.
And we have no sense of a process at all.
We're just taken by surprise.
But I think we all, like Mr Duffy in the Dubliners, Joe Joyce's book, we all live a distance from our... We all live in our heads and we live a distance from our bodies.
So we are kind of...
particularly out of touch very often with our hearts and our bodies.
And I think crying brings us home.
That's what it does.
We think in terms of the mind controlling everything and just we think straight and we act straight and then we'll...
feel fine but I think the heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of and I think the heart is always trying to teach us something about who we are and when we're in touch with our heart and particularly when we cry when we're in touch with our body we see the world in a different way we see life in a different way
