This was around the time I was familiarizing myself with genetics, probably eight, nine years ago.
And turns out that gene, that CYP2R1 gene, and for you guys listening, a gene is instructions to make a protein.
Think of a protein as a worker in the city.
the city of you.
The job of this protein is to take the inactive vitamin D, the form we supplement with, and turn it to the storage form that circulates in our bloodstream.
So that doesn't work as well.
And hang on, I'm not saying everyone needs to take high doses of vitamin D, but...
I mean, I talked to more practitioners, like we never even knew that this was like a thing.
They prescribe that pre-activated vitamin D for multiple sclerosis.
It's called Realdi.
But why aren't people aware of this if people can't get the vitamin D levels up?
That mesia deficiency.
For sure.
Yeah.
And, you know, because I'm pretty deep.
We're both deep in this holistic space.
So most people I talk to already have those things checked, right?
So just because vitamin D is low doesn't mean that it's just due to this genetic factor, but...
I just, I'm honestly just so sick of seeing people, practitioners say they outright demonize vitamin D. No one should take it because it's a hormone.
Yet they prescribe HRT to people.
