Not just from lack of medical staff, but from lack of adequate amount of prison guards.
They're doing a good job of keeping Gary Ridgway alive.
Well, one thing you were right about earlier, Henry, is that being a prison guard in Florida is kind of like a last resort job.
Basically, they get paid about $45,000 a year.
And as Chris Rock put it so eloquently, you get what you pay for.
Yeah.
The turnover rate of medical staff in prisons is through the roof.
With lack of enough guards, medical workers are often attacked themselves.
So no inmate can see a medical professional without two guards getting them and bringing them to said medical professional, which is rarely a doctor themselves.
I wanted to get a better understanding of all this shit, so I hit up a nameless buddy of mine who used to work in the medical field inside of corrections.
