She's been tormented.

And...

then she does something horrible that she immediately regrets and she feels terrible about.

And she is looking for a way to blame herself or to reckon with why she could have done this.

In my mind, I feel like a battered woman defense, which didn't exist then, would be more relevant to her.

Anyway, I could talk about this forever.

I thought it was catastrophic.

I mean, to be honest, at the time, it just meant that I was going to keep coming back to that feeling.

How did you, did you find it liberating?

No.

I found it like, are you kidding me?

Yeah.

I mean, I kind of thought that it could be another kind of mood disorder because it was clearly like the emotional, the emotions that I felt were so big that I thought this had to be some kind of mood disorder.

Yeah.

And, yeah, when I was thinking about writing this book as well, I was looking at all the past ways that we've categorized these kind of illnesses, like hysteria, like premenstrual tension.

There are all sorts of different names that kind of loosely fit these symptoms.

And it kind of feels like we kind of throughout history rearrange these symptoms into different pockets until we get something that –

or fits enough people and then we can start doing research into it and then we can start funding medication.
