And I think I often think about like you might have really progressive, really open female friendships, but we still don't really know that much about what is the experience of our friends menstrual cycles or what is normal.
Like I still don't think we really know what normal looks like.
No.
It's normal.
I also think that we expect women to put up with pain.
We expect women to just suffer.
Like even in like the small acts of like beauty that we do, like waxing or wearing uncomfortable outfits or like they're just like little minute things that we just expect is normal to be a woman.
It's normal to have that kind of pain.
And then that enters the like biological space as well of like it's normal to have painful periods.
They're just painful.
And...
I don't know if that's true.
Especially, oh my gosh, I think about these like 12, 13-year-old girls who are in excruciating pain and just being told that that's normal and you're going to put up with that for the next 40 years.
That's a child that you're telling to just like suck it up and suffer through that pain instead of investigating like what might actually be going on.
That's so upsetting.
It's so sad.
It's really, really terrifying how...
seemingly rational that thought process is for something that um I'm very glad didn't happen um and something that I don't feel most like that is it is fleeting like even though that was so real at the time for me um and this was after I went on for for context for people who haven't
read the book yet.
It was after I went on a medication that was supposed to help with PMDD and ended up making it a lot, lot worse very quickly.
