But, you know, partied hard and ended up, I ended up going clean.

And I've been clean for 30 years.

Yeah, so my, so local Waihi Beach guy,

The Ranga boys, well, I don't really want to mention names.

You know, that's fine.

Because they don't really know what happened, my experience that happened there either, because I was there on my own.

But, yeah, my girlfriend, her husband, they were all down camping there, and they often did.

And they said, come on down.

I think it might have been about 2004, maybe.

And anyway, so I was, I would have been living here in Tauranga, so I was in my car, was going there to meet them and the gate was locked, but it just happened, or it took me a while to find the driveway.

And then I just saw John Tamahere at the gate.

I thought, well, this must be the gate.

And then John was there.

And I just said, look, hey, I'm coming down.

I'm going to camp with Doug.

And he just opened the gate and let me in.

And so, yeah, I went down and caught up with my friends and we had a night there and they were leaving the next day.

But when I was with my girlfriend, we were walking along the beach.

So we were walking south on the beach

And, you know, so you can see the old schoolhouse and all of that.
