And there's many instances of this over, I've been doing this 42 years, many instances of people buying tops and selling bottoms, like exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time.
So again, being kind of a experienced person at this, I've always found catalysts are pretty tough.
It's usually something innocuous.
You know, if you ask people, why did the tech bubble pop?
They, there's no clear answer.
It wasn't like some company had a bad earnings report or something like that.
It just basically those equities stopped going up.
They started bleeding down and then the momentum caught up and
There was a giant puke, and it was the bubble burst, but there wasn't a clear catalyst.
In 2000, when, again, I was at Merrill Lynch, made this call that we're going to basically see a paradigm change.
OPEC wanted a higher price.
I think I went to like 14 or 15 OPEC meetings in three years.
Despite everything they were doing, people kept saying, it's not going to work, it's not going to work, it's not going to work.
And the catalyst of all things was Shell Oil doing a reserve write-down in 2003.
That is what people saw as signaling something is different.
So we went from oil's got to go to 18 to oil's going to go to 200.
Peak oil came out of that whole shift in psychology, etc.
So in the current case, I'm not sure what the catalyst will be.
I always like to think it'll be something obvious, like inventories get low and people start scrambling for supplies.
There are signs of that already.
