The the heart wins out over the head a lot of the time.
And it takes a lot of self discipline in some uh respects to move through those feelings and make a decision that you know is right for you.
Hm, yeah, people fear the uncertain.
I would say that that word selfish that you're using is probably part of the problem there, hun.
Um
Your feelings are your feelings and you can't control them and they're not selfish, they just are.
So you've got what what you're talking about is you've got part of you that wants to be single and experience that and part of you that wants to be in a committed relationship with this man.
And that's a really tough um position to be in, um, but you can make it slightly less tough by not beating yourself up and calling yourself names.
Regret is a state of mind.
It it involves thinking backwards on things and ruminating about the past.
Um, so whether it's the right decision or the wrong decision, you can't ever really tell because you don't know what would have happened if you'd made the other decision.
And people who don't regret things usually don't regret things not because they make all the best decisions but because what no matter what they choose, they think about the positives of that choice and what's gonna happen next and what they're gonna do going forward.
And so they always keep that forward focus that stops them from feeling depressed or regretful or nostalgic.
Uh it sounds to me like that person's partner has some work to do himself from the sounds of it.
He's been hurt or traumatized in a past relationship and there's some level of anxiety around commitment and around giving himself over to the relationship.
So, you know, although we can't say whether he will be able to work through that and commit.
and fall in love with this person or not.
Um, it is certainly a warning sign if someone's saying, I wanna be in this relationship but I'm not sure if I can wholeheartedly love you
It's definitely not easy now and feelings can change over time and and as you said, you can be into it and out of it and into it and out of it a number of times before you can be ready to to make the break.
It's kinda normal.
