Well, um, I think part of the issue is how much shame you have around those feelings because if you think about it, the awkwardness and the anxiety and the uncomfortableness comes down to how much you're scared of being rejected.
Now, if you think about it, those feelings are based on you really liking this person, thinking they are pretty spectacular, pretty awesome.
And that's a compliment.
You're not actually saying anything to this person other than you're amazing and I like you better than all other people at the moment.
And so if you think of it as a compliment and if you think of your feelings a natural and just a product of
how much you two have invested in each other, then you can really start to think about it as something that you don't have to be scared about, something you don't have to be ashamed of.
And if you start thinking about presenting it to your friend if you decide that's what you wanna do
in that way, then it can really um unpack a lot of the worry and a lot of the anxiety that you have.
Oh well, you know, it's really vulnerable to to put your heart on your sleeve and to say, I like you better than everybody else and you know, sometimes no matter how much you like someone, for various reasons they don't like you in that same way back.
So there is a risk.
of being rejected and it depends on how you view that rejection.
You know, if you take that as, Oh my God, I'm just not good enough then that of course is gonna really hurt you.
Whereas if you see it as, okay, you know what?
We obviously do have different ideas in mind of what we want for the future or maybe we've got different goals and dreams and you interpret it in that way.
It can be a lot easier to take.
Look, I I do think that at some point you gotta take that leap.
So how much lead up you give to it is really up to you.
