And my son was just having one of those afternoons where he kept picking on the baby and he was whinging and he was whining.

And it was so tricky.

And I remember just summoning all my love for him, which I think as parents, sometimes when our kids go through a difficult stage, it can be hard.

Like we love our kids, but we don't like them every day.

So it was like, it was like summon everything you've got, Jen.

And I remember giving him a wink and a thumbs up across the yard.

And I said his name and I was like, you know, I see you.

And I noticed this real ripple effect through his body.

I noticed it vibrated literally.

And I think I was just being aware, will this work?

And that's why I noticed it.

And then I started to play around with the idea of what connection could do within the relationship.

And I started to just inject silliness and connection and fun into the daily moments.

Like not overdoing it, but just they were under my feet.

And rather than snap at them to get out of the kitchen, I'd chase them around the bench once like a monster first.

And then say 10 more minutes, guys.

You know, I'd go back in for a kiss and a cuddle.

after I'd touch them in at night, rather than them asking for one more, I'd go in and ask for one more.

I'd try to be a bit needy and silly and fun with my affection.

And what I noticed was that behavior started to improve.
