Like, you know, you'd get 20 minutes or 30 minutes of like a happier, more settled kid.
But I also started to notice that the way I felt as a mom changed, like I will be forever grateful for that bit of advice.
So I've tried to take that concept of connection in my work and step that forward.
I try to give parents these really practical ideas because if a thumbs up changed my life, how incredible can it be to sort of help parents see, well, this is literally the currency that makes our kids tick.
And when we can find ways that are physical and silly and fun to make our kids feel connected, you know, and the reason that impacts our kids is
is that because of the fact that the human brain takes 25 to 28 years to reach development, our kids are wired to really need this sense of disconnection with us.
you know, really for that whole time.
And particularly in the younger years, if they're missing it, and that cannot be that we've done anything wrong, but they're just not feeling it there, then what we will first thing we will see is they won't listen, they'll get more stuck and cortisol will go up.
And once we know that connection can really, really be 90% of the answer, no matter what the problem is,
Then we know where to start.
So, you know, whenever I have a problem in my own house and I've got four kids aged nine up to 16, so we have a lot of problems.
There's a fair few problems, yeah.
A lot of the time we have problems and I always think, oh, my God, we've got this problem.
I'm so worried about my kid and they might never.
And then I think, where do I start?
I start with connection.
always want to start there because if we don't get that foundation going if our kid doesn't feel loved and worthy of love um then nothing else works and so i've got lots of things in that i do with my boys just on a daily basis even now and i've changed the way that works for my older kids that just brings that sense of you matter you're loved you're worthy of love
And I genuinely find that if I can connect before I direct, and I have to do a lot of directing with four boys, I have to do a lot of unpack the dishwasher, if I touch their back before I do that, it's 90% of the time going to go so much better than if I don't.
So that's why connection is so important.
That is such a hack.
