UNHCR is under attack.

Donald Trump is trying to put people into UNHCR, didn't happen, but in senior positions that want the US to leave the Refugee Convention, right?

UNHCR needs supporters.

There needs to be a vision of how the Refugee Convention will work five years from now.

What is our vision?

We don't have one in the center.

That's the key question that too many people who are, for the right reasons and with the right motivation, defending refugee rights at these conventions, they are not asking this question.

For them, and that is part of the problem, they are not addressing the fundamental point that that Afghan judge will not cross five borders, international borders, the mountains between Iran and Turkey, and then get into a boat, usually, that the only way a lot of the people who need protection will ever come to a safe country is by resettlement.

you know, a legal route.

Resettlement at the moment is at its lowest in decades.

There's never been less resettlement in the world.

So if the way to actually, in a humane way, help people who really need protection, resettlement has collapsed.

That's not talked enough about in the refugee protection community.

The refugee protection community, the human rights organizations,

see things very much from the point of view of the asylum lawyers in the European countries.

They will do a good job once people are here.

They will give people their rights.
