Because what we saw with Trump's election, the United States has stopped applying these treaties to asylum seekers.

Well, I would tell them that there is a huge opportunity because what this showed, theater showed, is that whatever happens anywhere at the European Union's borders, even in North Africa, shocks British, Finnish, Swedish, German publics and politicians.

So we are all concerned.

We all have an interest in solving this.

It doesn't matter which country is affected.

What do we do?

First, let's make three concrete examples.

Theater, Central Mediterranean, and the British Channel.

It's the same problem.

We need to make it...

We need to make it futile to cross.

And we need to do that without violating the right to access to asylum and the human rights to be treated with dignity.

That's the challenge.

Now, in those three cases, in two words, two sentences each, in the channel, the British government should ask the Danish, the Swedish, the Austrian, the German government, are you prepared to help us demonstrate to the British public that Europe is the solution, not the problem, that we don't need to leave the European Convention on Human Rights at all to solve the small boat crisis, and that all this talk about military is, of course, completely crazy.

Let's solve it.
