We just need to...
need him to improve from where his starting base is which is quite low so get it up a little bit but that's going to take time and over a pre-season so confidence is a brutal mistress because when things are going well it's amazing but like one game can just eviscerate your confidence and sometimes you like you won't get it back that season everything you do just tends to turn to to mud like there's so much focus on the lad
And it's very hard for it to be positive at the moment in these big, close, tight games.
And you understand the rationale to have him there is like, if we have possession, he can do something that very few players can do.
But the reality is, I think in the knockout games, if you're coming on as one of the
number 22 or number 23, you're not coming on to win the game.
You're coming on to close out the game.
And I'm not sure that's the picking passes and trying to create something or create a moment is the right selection criteria.
It needs to be just improving on what they've been doing.
If you took Hugo Keenan's tracker afterwards, he is never standing still.
And the volume of ground that he has to cover when you compare it to a 10, 12, 13, a lot of 10, 12, 13 is, you know, almost like rugby league, forward, back, forward, back, a little bit side to side.
You might be going around the side of a ruck.
He's doing 20, 30, 40 meter high speed meters every time the ball moves.
So that's not like, that's not how 10s play.
10s do minimal enough running.
This isn't the first time it's happened in Irish rugby this season.
You go to Andy Farrell, the start of the season, and he called out the press as well and basically said, like, do you actually support Ireland?
but that's a good question but a lot of people would say it's not the press's job to support i wouldn't necessarily take it literal uh in a literal sense i think what he would the point he was trying to make was like it's like you're waiting for us to fail so that you can put the boot in and i think there's probably a bit of that about uh with lenster uh with leo and he's there
they're very much on the glass half full.
But the press, it's almost like they're saying, what he's trying to acknowledge is to say, you guys are waiting for this to go wrong so you can put the boot in.
