And that was kind of how I ended up kind of getting into comedy.

So I did character stuff for a while.

And then, you know, friends were going, look, what you're doing is stand-up.

You should just call it what it is.

So in the end, that's what I did.

And it's interesting.

Once...

I called myself, once I stopped doing these character monologues where the shows had, you know, names and it was a kind of a through line of a story.

And I just called, just said, it's Graham Norton.

Boom.

Doing, you know, this is a standup.

Once you labeled it a standup, suddenly TV producers, radio producers felt they knew what to do with me.

Oh, we know what he is now.

He's a standup.

So that's when I started getting presenting gigs and little cub reporter roles on various radio shows and TV shows.

And so what happened was there was a, Channel 5 had started in the UK and they were looking for new people because established stars wouldn't go on there.

So it was a new channel and also they had no money.

So I got to do a few shows on there and it was going well.

And they had a five nights a week chat show called Jack Doherty Show.

And he was going on holiday and I got the gig to be his stand in for two weeks.
