Look, I think stereotypically people's first sort of idea would be, oh, the quiet, shy kid in the corner that doesn't speak out.
But that's not necessarily the case.
I think, you know,
what parents and carers and people who have children in their lives can do is create an open and safe space for kids to come forward with anything.
And believing the child in the moment as well.
I think I've got a notion that my partner and I are going to instill with our daughter when she's on the way.
And it's this idea of surprises, not secrets.
We don't have secrets.
We have surprises because the truth is always going to come out no matter what.
Secrets are never meant to be told.
But surprises, the truth always unveils itself.
So I think just that mindset of
Creating that environment for your children to be able to come forward with anything.
They're not going to be met with, you know, violence or anger for saying something.
I know that part of the reason I never came forward with anything was because of the fear, the chokehold fear had over me that if I said something, my dad would choke me or do something awful to me.
Yeah.
So what incentive did I have to come forward?
Because I would have just been met with abuse anyway.
