Mate, good story.
I didn't go off solo.
I mean, there's some crazy footage, but then, yeah, I've written about it.
I probably explained it better in writing than I do shooting from the hip here, but...
Particularly one of those missions, mate, where we were literally watching this village for hours, you know, listening on devices.
There was even a human intelligence agent telling us Hekmatul was in this village.
We launched on it, you know, all of a sudden he's not there.
We managed to get out just before we arrived, but all of a sudden everyone's a farmer.
Everyone's saying no, he's never been here, et cetera, et cetera.
The pressures of Canberra saying, you know, only you're allowed outside the wire to track down this dude who's murdered three Australians.
You know, the pressure cooker that was created by these strategic decisions and the realities on the ground when people love to espouse, you know, the heat of battle and fog of war, like...
And the context of what it was like over there, particularly during such a hyper period like that, is where I openly look forward to this being brought out in open court.
You know, for more people in Australia to understand.
That's why I wrote about it, mate.
For people to read what it's actually like.
Because at the moment...
You have people in the media making it sound like we're over there and there was the right path to go or the wrong path to go and people made the wrong path.
It's not.
It's not black and white.
It is so gray.
