The miserable c*** will be somewhere else.
You won't want to play, but it turns out you are actually busy.
Well, I was using a driver back then, probably as much as I do now.
I'm a more accurate driver now.
The thing that would have changed most is just the players that play the game and the way the game is played.
I mean, when I came out, there were still a number of players on tour for whom length wasn't the big thing.
As we've seen in the last decade, length has become such a major thing.
um thing to go after in the game and of course the benefits of doing so are there to be seen for us all so the game's changed whereas i haven't you know and so i wouldn't i wouldn't say i'm hitting the ball shorter now than i did i hit driver less uh and of course the distances are measured i think for the most part just two holes per week uh per round sorry two holes per round so you're getting eight drives across the week now i'm not sure how that compares to the pga tour
Um, and I'm not sure if that differs on some weeks where the statistic or the guys with the stats are out there every hole, but yeah, I wouldn't say it's the most accurate, although it is a generally accurate pool of data.
It's not necessarily entirely accurate.
Yeah, and look, to be clear, if I'm hitting a driver and I hit a driver well, I will carry the ball 280 yards.
That is my driver carry.
Now, that is quite short.
I mean, that's below average, certainly.
But, you know, for my driving stats to be at 277, that is not an accurate reflection of how far I hit my driver.
But what that does show is that I don't always hit my driver, of course.
And so, and I probably hit my driver less than most.
And I use my mini driver too, so...
Um, quite often I'll play with folks who I'm hitting the same or even one less iron than.
So, you know, for me, that was always why I wasn't overly fussed if I was hitting a three-wood or a mini driver off the tee and was 10, 15 yards back.
