Most of them are dealing with uh older adults with dementia who are living in the nursing home or have some severe dementia.

But we know that actually most um adults with dementia are living in the community.

And this represents a really heterogeneous population that

kind of span the um disease severity.

And a lot of these are older adults with mild to moderate disease.

And

Just given that there weren't um

any well-known or well-used models, we we decided to to create one for for specifically this population of of those living in the community at home with most of them had more of the in the mild to moderate stages.

Yeah, I think so there is no exact like there's this one model that's going to say this is the one that predicts mortality.

Um what you what you really do is you look at a whole bunch of different factors that we kind of know are associated with uh with increased uh risk of mortality.

So age is an obvious one.

Um, from previous studies, we know that functional um difficulties, so having needing help with dressing or

Bathing is is an important um

risk factor for for for mortality.

And what you do is essentially just look at a lot of these kind of predictors, um, come up with one.

Um, through some statistical techniques that seems reasonable based on something that can be used in clinic that's not too large, that has so many variables that it's just really difficult to calculate.

And uh make sure that it it performs well.

And and so once you come up with something that that seems pretty reasonable, that that is ultimately the model.

But we're not saying that this is the this is the only model that would predict mortality.
