I would love for one day to have a life without this.

I wonder what it would be like to make a choice just because I want to and not have to take into consideration my body and if it can do it or not.

And then especially as an actress.

Right.

It's been incredibly difficult to figure out how to navigate this profession with a disability, especially because for the first 20 years of my life, I didn't have to.

I was on Broadway.

I was a singer.

I was a dancer.

Using my body, that's my instrument as an actor.

And so then for 15 years, trying to hide the physical disability and protect

play an able-bodied person, created some bad habits.

And then even when I first came out about it, I still wanted to play an able-bodied person.

Like, we can hide it.

We can hide it.

Don't worry.

I'll just take a few steps here.

Or if I can, you know, just have some pieces of furniture to lean on.

Like, no one will ever see it.

And I was met with such love and support.

And people always were gracious enough to accommodate me.
