He was the AHL coach of the year.

For whatever reason, his team didn't have a lot of playoff success.

But this really does feel like the Vancouver Canucks are going with this approach of trying to carry over the summer good vibes.

We know that they've done the overhaul in the locker room and addressed, they hope, some of the issues there.

And I think they're trying to find a coaching staff that can come in on the ground floor and work with these guys.

And if that's the intention, then I'm going to let them have their opportunity and we'll see what happens.

And if it doesn't work,

In a couple of years, they can do an overhaul and find some different bodies and some different voices.

Right.

And I think there's a couple of things that jump to mind here.

One is, and again, Ryan Mouginelle, to me, is a name only comes from Providence.

We said AHL coach of the year.

So, you know, there is some accomplishment there.

But I think back to like once upon a time, Manny Mel Holder had no coaching experience.

And really in the blink of an eye, look at what he has done, has shot up the ranks, he's made the most of his opportunities, started as an eye in the sky under Travis Green, wanted a bench role, it wasn't there for him in Vancouver, goes to Toronto, then elects to step back, takes the job in Abbotsford, and now he's an NHL head coach.

I mean, a lot of it is on the individuals here to make the most of their opportunities.

You know, I'm not surprised that Manny got to bring one of his bench assistants from Abbotsford.

I mean, that's just kind of the way hockey works.
