I love Shane Wright's speed, but obviously he has not arrived at the National Hockey League with the hopes that, for the longest time, he was going to be the first overall pick that year, and then he fell to fourth.

And it's like so many others down in Seattle, they just haven't been able to get...

You know, a high draft pick to absolutely light it up.

Matty Beneers is a solid player without a doubt, but I don't know that you'd say he's a star in the National Hockey League.

And then the same thing goes for Shane right now.

He's young and I'm certainly not giving up on him, but I just think based on the position.

At this stage, like a one-for-one swap of a defenseman for a forward.

And sure, the Canucks need help up front, without a doubt.

But I just don't know that I'd be prepared to go down that road and make that kind of trade.

I need to see more from Shane Wright, like the Seattle Kraken, and probably like most teams in the National Hockey League, not writing him off by any stretch.

But just...

You see it in fits and starts, but just in terms of any consistency of being a player that you could count on to deliver regularly, he's not there yet.

So I don't know.

To me, it would be very much buyer beware.

Yeah, I think a couple of ones.

I mean, if you could get off a contract with trade protection, a forward, and the age difference at that point, yes.

I mean, I think that would be far more compelling to me if I'm looking to shore up the Canucks forward ranks.

You know, you'd win on the age side of things, obviously.

And again, if you're just trying to shake it up, then, yeah, I mean, those are the types of traits I think I would look long and hard at.

But in terms of a young defenseman for a young forward, I just I can't get out there at this stage, even though, I mean, the Vancouver Canucks leave that at some point, you know, whether it's Kirill Kudratsev become a full time national hockey leaguer.
