So hierarchical polyamory is um something where people think that there's like tiers of relationship.
So um someone will have what what's usually called like a primary partner.
Um so somebody who the general expectation is that
that person is their priority.
Um so they might date other people but they don't necessarily prioritize them if something comes up for their primary partner.
And that can be problematic, but if there's if there's boundaries and rules set at the beginning, it can help make sure that that doesn't become too complicated.
People have like incredibly strong reactions to to hearing about polyamory.
Either people are like, Oh yeah, that's totally something that I could see myself doing or like, Good lord, what are you thinking?
That's impossible.
I could never do that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I I hear a lot of fear from a lot of people of like, Oh, I'm too jealous.
Um, you know, I I could date other people but I could never let my partner date anybody else.
Um and so a lot of there's a lot of fear around jealousy and about, you know, what emotions might come up, seeing your partner with somebody else or um hearing about your partner with somebody else.
And so a lot of times people just kinda go, Nope, I don't want to feel any of that, so I'm just gonna shut it down.
Jealousy isn't actually just jealousy usually.
Like it it's it's a it's a much more nuanced space where sometimes it's fear of missing out.
