I think she's nervous about what she's been hearing from all the surrounding third graders, the ones that have gone before her.

And sometimes the anticipation of something that is hard is

is actually worse than the actual thing we're worried about.

It's just that anticipation.

And as moms, we end up carrying that anticipation right alongside our kids.

Then we made another really smart decision here in my household.

We signed everyone up for activities.

My oldest is doing softball, gymnastics, and dance.

My middle daughter is doing gymnastics and dance, and my youngest is doing gymnastics and dance, which means during the first few months of school, we will have something on the six calendar days of the week besides Sunday.

Just saying that out loud, I'm already tired thinking about it.

And a few years ago, I would have looked at that schedule and immediately thought, oh my gosh, we can't, how do we do this?

This isn't going to work.

But guess what?

We've practiced this schedule long enough that we've figured out how we're going to fit it all in.

And so now I ask myself a different question.

Now I'm asking, how do I create enough balance in this schedule?

So that all of this can fit without me feeling like I'm drowning.

Because now we've gone through a year with that schedule of extracurriculars and I know it works.

It's just really full.

It's really overwhelming.
