You did us good, dad. There were some moments in which it was traumatic, but overall, you did things that hurt us, but you gave us so many tools and resources so that we could work through it. So it's just complicated. It's a paradox of life, you know. Joe Loya, thank you very much. It's a fascinating story, really. It's wonderful to be here, Joe, and I appreciate it. I don't know the time, but I'm nursing a couple fractures of rib in our elbow.
I'm beat up real good.
Put my brother in the bathroom, I lock him in, I go to the kitchen, and I pull out a steak knife.
And I walk over to the bedroom.
I put it under the pillow and I just sit there and I wait.
My dad comes in.
He looks at me over there, you know, glares at me.
So I'm thinking like, what am I, what's he going to use to hit me?
I'm through.
This is like a new level of improvised savagery, right?
So I'm like, okay, screw it.
And I grabbed the knife out and I stand up and now I'm standing there with a steak knife in my hand.
Well, I mean, you have to start a lot earlier than, hey, I want to rob banks.
Okay.
Most of the guys I knew who robbed banks actually were drug addicts, which meant they were doing it to subsidize the drug habit.
And so they would just go there so they could get a big bunch of money.
