it's awesome feedback because, I mean, that's ultimately what trade value sort of is.
It's, you know, who would you prefer in this one for one?
I mean, that's sort of what a player's value comes down to.
Now, of course, there's like tiers within that, and there's gonna be virtual ties where it's like, ah, man, I don't know if I would rather have this guy or this guy, then they end up getting ranked right next to each other on the trade value series that Ben Clemens does.
But the more data that we have to just pull from fan feedback and reader feedback,
really helps us to sort of reality check how our lists are.
And really, like for me, as someone who doesn't work on the trade value series explicitly, but like for me, it's a good gut check for, well, how does the baseball
fandom and industry writ large think of a player's trade value and the trade value simulator sort of game I like to think of it as is just such a fun way to do that and frankly such a time suck in the best possible way where you will
look down, do some clicking, look up and realize you spent 20 minutes just ranking guys and making sure that you get, you know, your hundreds of picks in.
I think so, yeah.
For me, my top consideration is like, do I like the contract enough?
And I generally am going to be sort of biased towards like longer team control for players who have not yet reached free agency.
But when it's like two guys who've gotten long-term extensions or free agent contracts against each other, I'm just like, which contract do I like better?
It might not be the better player.
But for me, it's like, you know, when Manny Machado pops up,
arguably the worst contract right now, although he's been heating up lately.
Like, I don't care how many years he has left, if those years might be miserable.
other players it's like well you only have a few years of this guy left even if it's not a great contract like I like it enough so yeah I am fairly salary sensitive and I'm not really thinking too much about oh how does trade value matter from a potential future collective bargaining agreement standpoint but that is something to consider and it'll be interesting to see how teams consider like well what will the economic system of baseball look like next year if we trade for this contract
Yeah, it's, you know, National League second base is the position that I think needs
the fans got the most wrong, per se, if I can phrase it that way.
