At the end of the day, I say to people, look, why do you even want to be in that argument?
Why do you want to be in a price war game?
Just everything you should do, in my view, is value add.
Instead of price discounting, value add.
And I know I keep on repeating the happy meal gag, but the easiest way for me to get it across to people is to just say to them, what is your happy meal toy?
What is it?
What's the toy?
What's making you different from anyone else?
If it's price, then just
be prepared that you know if I was in the solar business and I was selling my solar panels for let's say five thousand dollars, the guy down the road can duplicate that within two seconds.
He he can be four thousand five hundred dollars like that.
So why do you want to go into that battle when you don't need to?
Why don't you actually say, look, buy my solar panels and I will give you a year's petrol discounts at 40 cents per litre every week for 50 litres?
And therefore 50 liters by 40 cents, you're going to be giving away probably over the year a few hundred dollars worth of petrol.
But guess what the homeowner's thinking in their head?
I've got a solar dealer here that's quoted that, a solar dealer here that's quoted this, but this one comes with petrol discounts for the next 52 weeks.
And I'll give you an example.
With that building society, at one stage, I said to them, Well, why don't we experiment with petrol discounts?
And they
Said, what do you mean?
