And he said, you know, that's that's not a compliment.
And I said, Steve, I'm on the right side of this.
They're not.

And I kept that up for another couple of years.
I did another tour and then decided, listen, I have five children.
I need to put them through college.
I have to start making some real money.
So I resigned from the CIA, went into the private sector and in the private sector,
And this has changed the course of the rest of my life.
I got a call from Brian Ross, a very prominent journalist with ABC News in the United States, a seven-time Emmy Award winner.
And he said that he had a source who said that I had tortured Abu Zubaydah.
I said, that was absolutely untrue.
I was the only person who was kind to Abu Zubaydah.
And he said, well, you're welcome to come on the show and defend yourself.
I had no idea that was a reporter's trick because I had never spoken to a reporter before.
