They all worked at the same Wilmington bar called O'Friel's Irish Pub, but they would just work different shifts.
The bar was owned by three brothers, the Freels, who were all very involved in Democratic politics.
And because of that, the pub was a hotspot for Delaware Democrats.
One attorney general spent so much time there, it got the name the Attorney General's Annex Office.
And Anne-Marie grew up visiting her siblings there during their shifts.
And Ed Friel, a chief of staff for a congressman, took a liking to her and he really encouraged her to get into politics because she was so interested in it.
And a lot of people thought that she could go really far.
She had the personality for it.
Her brother Brian described her effect on people, saying, quote, Annie would walk into a room, and it was like someone threw the light switch and all the lights came on.
By her mid-teens, Anne-Marie stood six feet tall in heels, with curly auburn hair adding a couple more inches, and with her big blue eyes and freckles, she always stood out.

In her sophomore year of high school, Robert Sr.
lost the family home to foreclosure and relocated the family to Newark, Delaware.
Anne Marie stayed behind, though.
She wanted to finish school, and she moved in with two of her brothers who were renting a house together.
After graduation, she chose Wesley College in Dover.
It was about 50 minutes from Wilmington.
She was inspired by all those political movers and shakers that she saw growing up, and she chose to major in political science.
She played basketball.
