And then you've got to cook it on low for a long time, about four to six hours.
Watch that it doesn't burn or stick at the bottom.
So you'll mix it up and stir it regularly.
And then the red lentils will gradually disappear and the potato and carrot also kind of cook away a little bit.
So it's a thickish soup.
You can even blend it a little bit afterwards if you need it to be very easy to digest.
So this is very high in protein and fiber, the red lentils and the barley.
And then that works great to drink in a flask when you're out from the cup or at home as well with some lovely bread or sourdough.
So these are some things that I've really been enjoying lately and have helped me so much because I've had them ready.
I've had them in jars, in the freezer, ready to grab.
So it's important to uh also to mention here a classic chicken soup, the Darren McGrady, the royal chef on YouTube, his chicken broth soup is so delicious.

thinking about what kind of containers will help you.
We found some lovely jars with lids.
The lids are screw-on and the jars are about 500 milliliters, which is two cups or about a pint.
And I've put the lentil barley soup in those in the freezer.
