So you might have to create your own safety net to protect yourself.
A couple things about forgiveness.
When we forgive someone, mother or anyone, for causing us harm,
Sometimes we do that to stay in the relationship.
Sometimes we do that and we still decide to leave the relationship.
We forgive so that we are not bitter.
We don't get stuck in anger.
We don't get stuck in blame because those toxic feelings will make us sick.
So we forgive for our own well-being and our own health.
If that forgiveness somehow brings us to a place that we can be in the relationship, great.
But forgiving is not forgetting.
We don't want to forget what this person's capable of doing.
We can forgive it.
But if we also forget it, then we're being pathologically kind of going right back into the storm, expecting that we're going to have the sun come out.
That's right.
What mother hunger healing is actually about that you're saying is an invitation to be, not do.
You've been doing plenty, but to be.
That the more you can replace loss nurturing, the more you can replace loss protection, your whole nervous system starts to settle down.
You become more present.
And what is it our kids want from us more than anything?
