And it grew a lot between 2001 and then the financial crisis.
Boom.
It hit a peak of £11.50 at the share price of HBOS in February 2007.
By the time the Lloyds deal, the rescue deal, it was landed with HBOS basically because of all of the stuff that had gone in the financial crisis.
It had deep exposure to collapse in the UK property market, one of the biggest lenders in the country.
By the time that that Lloyds deal was announced in September 2008, HBOS shares had nosedived to below 180p.
which shows you how fast and how quickly in that financial crisis the brand was struggling.
So Lloyd's was kind of lumbered with it, for choice of a better word.
It was kind of lumbered with the Halifax brand.
And then from that point onwards, basically they've coexisted and have coexisted for quite a long time.
Financial crisis is well in the rearview mirror.
Lots of things have happened since then.
And Lloyds has seen this as the opportunity to, I guess, what you would say business beat is to streamline the brand.
If you're a Halifax customer, current account customer, mortgage customer, you're just going to become a Lloyds customer.
