What about berberine?
So berberine is different.
Berberine comes from plants.
We don't make it.
It's a plant compound and it's extracted from several herbs, actually, including barberry and golden seal.
And it's been used in traditional herbal medicine for centuries.
But more recently, it's been studied for its effect on metabolic health.
And one of the ways that berberine has been shown to work is by activating an enzyme called AMPK.
So AMPK is sometimes described as the body's metabolic master switch.
It's really important because it helps to regulate how we deal with blood sugar balance, how our fat is metabolized, our insulin sensitivity, how we use cellular energy.
So because of these effects, berberine is sometimes compared to the medicine that we might be prescribed for blood sugar regulation.
So things like metformin, for example, berberine has been described as a natural alternative.
So I'm not going to comment on that, but I think let's look at whether NAD plus boosters like NMN or NR
And berberine are a good combination.
And yeah, I think they are different.
They're not the same thing, but they can actually complement each other quite well.
So your NAD plus precursors or indeed NAD plus in and of itself.
And there's an increasing discussion about whether we can have injectable NAD plus, for example, or liposomal NAD plus precursors.
If you want to know more about that, then head to lizarewellbeing.com because there's articles on the website about that.
But these NAD plus precursors, for the most part, are supporting cellular energy and our mitochondria, which is really good.
