This is where the guilt and shame come in, don't they?

We see it.

We see a fear and we think, I don't like it.

It's frightening.

I'm not going to look at it.

And I don't know anyone that I've spoken to about working with fear who said, yes, it's okay to push it away.

I guess that's the distinction when I say about pushing fear away.

I think there's a difference in putting it to one side, recognizing, communicating with it, knowing it's there and saying, I feel you.

I'm not blaming you saying you're bad, but right now I'm going to associate with a more confident side.

Right now we need to get this done.

So rather than the pushing away as in that is shameful, that is embarrassing, that is wrong to feel fear.

And therefore I'm not going to look at it because it's too scary.

I think that's a big difference, isn't it?

And probably keeps us alive today.

I mean, when we talk about cave times and the fear of a tiger scratching at the wall or whatever, or the fear of the people in our clan...

We didn't want to be, we want to be accepted.

We still all want to be accepted because in cave times, if we were rejected, well, that was a death sentence.

You couldn't live on your own.
