I'll get on my soapbox for a second about...

The one thing that is a pet peeve of mine is when small businesses or companies will say we're all a family.

I don't think that my team members are my family.

I think it is actually inappropriate even to relate to that because I have a family.

I have two kids.

And there are certain things that they can say or do that I accept because they're my kids.

So the other day, my son said,

I really didn't like the ham sandwich you made.

It was really dry and terrible.

I want dad to make it next time.

I have to accept that abuse from my son because he's my kid.

Yeah.

But I think that when we were permissive and we say that this is part of your family, well, you don't pay your family to interact with you and hang out with you for eight hours a day.

And you don't fire, terminate, or let go of your family.

I think that it sets unrealistic expectations.

Yeah.

I think what I'm always expecting for my team is mutual respect, mutual support, clear expectations.

And I think that we've really fostered that environment where we are kind to each other.
