And this is anecdotal.
I'd have to do some more research.
But it was like I read one example of like some indigenous tribes would just banish people.
They're like, you can't exist in our community.
So you're banished from community.
Right.
Like, I think that is to like a part of what Alan was maybe trying to say, but not in like, obviously, we can't just like do that to people because people are people.
But it was an interesting thought process of just like, oh, right.
Because if you have an entire community who is watching and willing to take care of children, you then have way more options of who's taking care of the child.
Right.
So if it's like dreaming bigger, it is about community care in that if a parent is no longer a person who can be trusted to be around children, look at all these other people who can be around and help make sure that this child thrives and is not abused by other people.
Because I think that is like that slope of unfortunate, like, the data is also complicated.
We looked into, you know, rates of abuse in foster care.
And like, you know, often I'm like, well, what if we were giving the money that goes to foster families to just the family that got charged with neglect and not being able to feed their kids?

There's so much wrong with the system that I totally agree we have to be dreaming of what can be better.
And if we don't dream, then we've really lost ourselves as a society and lost what we should be doing for kids.
There's the idiom of it takes a village.
And I think we've lost that in many ways.
I am someone who is child-free by choice, but I am not without children in my life and children as a part of my duty as a human being.
