his doctor in Dublin said, look, I think you need to come up here and I'll see what I can do for you.

We'll try and put a stent in to kind of open up the stomach again to get so that he can eat.

The plan was always for him to be able to eat more, to build up, to then allow him to have chemo, to prolong his life so that he could search for a trial in the meantime.

And this doctor in Dublin was very much on board with that, which he needed.

And he clung to that hope and loved to talk to her because she was on his side.

So we went up to Dublin in early August and they put in two stents, which actually did help him.

He was able to eat a little bit from even later that day on.

He would start to have like a yogurt or something.

Tiny things.

But that made a big difference to him.

He thought, great, we're getting on to something here.

But that night he just became really unwell again and it turned out that the procedure to put the stents in had dislodged bacteria or something and he got a really bad infection.

And he just got so, so much worse over the next few days.

He was turning really, really yellow as well because the bile duct was blocked again.

So the doctor said, look, we need to put a drain in for your bilirubin.

It's going to be there for the rest of your life and it's not comfortable.

It's probably going to be irritable.

You know, it's not a nice thing, but this is what we need to do to save your life in the short term.

So he accepted that and just was very, very sleepy.

This felt like a new phase and I could see that he was sort of drifting a little bit.
