But...
Around 12, 13 years old, it just got really ugly at my parents' house where I grew up, you know, in our apartment.
And it was just bad.
It was violent.
My father and I became very violent with each other.
And he was home sick on permanent disability, essentially a hoarder.
And I just didn't want to be there anymore.
I just didn't want to be there.
Child services were involved because the cops had been called a number of times.
Eventually...
At around 13 years old, I started to drink and smoke pot.
I was already smoking cigarettes.
At that point, I really mastered the skill of convincing my friends' parents to like me.
So I was never at home.
I barely stayed at home.
I was always sleeping out.
And so at 15, it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Child services basically showed up at the house.
My father and I got into a fight.
They said to my mother, look, you know, this is unsafe for your child here.
