So you spend those years of your life learning and then you think, cool, you're a builder now, so you don't learn.

But the first year I did as a qualified builder, I learned more than my whole apprenticeship put together.

And then as a builder, you look at foreman and then you look at project managers and you always think, you know, when I'm good at this, I'll crack it and I'll be there and then I'll just be there.

every step of the way you learn more than you did in the condensed time that you were doing the previous role, right?

So finished my apprenticeship.

I remember by the end of my apprenticeship, I was running a job and I had a guy working for me in the company that I had under me, I suppose, when we were running this job and he was being paid more than me.

And I went to see my boss and said, look, man, I'm like, I'm qualified now.

And I know you've given me a pay rise.

I think it was like 19 or 20 bucks an hour as a qualified carpenter.

And the guy that was working under me was on like 22, something like that.

And I was like, oh, look, man, I'm running this job.

I just, you know, I feel like it's fair that I get a pay rise.

And he was like, no, you got to earn your stripes.

I was like, okay, okay.

here's my resignation.

Like even that, that I think about now, like they gave me my opportunity to do the trade and I'm like embarrassed that I left so quickly after qualifying because of that.

Like me now is like, man, there's a like a loyalty, like there's a gratitude and stuff that I should have at least done a year after that to pay you guys back for what you gave to me.

Um, I've spoken to him about it since then and we're all good now.

But, um,

He was pretty dark at the time.
