It's about living life to the fullest, being curious, poking around, asking questions, learning new things.
And boy, from doing a little research on Nick Greenberg, my next guest,
He falls into that category in a big old way.
He's a versatile bassist.
He's a composer, author, performed at a mess of different musical gigs and occasions, Broadway shows, even has done some polka.
I have a feeling we're not going to have enough time to talk about all this, but he's also been somebody who was a former chocolatier.
He, a winemaker, award-winning home brewer, lives in Cincinnati with his wife and his golden retriever.
You got to love that.
And it has a new book that's a novel, but ties into one of the most curious stories
ingredients known to man uh welcome nick greenberg uh talking about his new book buried treasure uh unearths the cutthroat culinary world of rare truffles how are you great how you doing neil i'm quite well what a cv you have um uh why why truffles in your new book uh it's a novel correct
It is, yes.
So what was the sex appeal about this fungi?
truffle dogs and break into their warehouses and it just i found it fascinating now they used to use uh pigs i don't know if they still do but they do have dogs and they've used animals to sniff these out because it's it they don't grow above ground in the same way in the sense same sense somebody might be thinking about a mushroom or something more typically found and used in the culinary arts
And it's funny because as I'm reading about your book, which I have not read yet, but reading about your book, it does have...
You know, you're talking about thousands of dollars per pound.
You know, you don't pan for it like gold, but you have to โ it's not something easy to get.
The only thing you and I could seek out is, you know, bad artificial, you know, truffle oil because that stuff smells horrible.
But the real stuff โ
But the real stuff, you're right.
It does have mystery.
