The next morning, Tim arose.
He shambled into the kitchen, set the coffee maker to fill a pot, and then shambled again into the bathroom for a shower following a solid morning constitutional.
His bowels seemed still to be upset over the odd concoctions he had been ingesting recently, and to him at that point ordinary bowel movements were but a bit of memory.
Once done, he made his way back into the kitchen, poured a cup of coffee, and got to packing.
CJ and Dan spilled in through the front door.
The poster children were hungover and sleep-deprived, and drank greedily from the coffee pot Tim had prepared.
They too soon packed in the most haphazard and sloppy manner imaginable, before being joined by Kenny and Amanda.
The whole crew was there, some hungover, some sleep-deprived due to wanting to get every available grind, bump, and thrust in a foreign country out as possible, and in Tim's case, a simple bewilderment at how far from what he'd expected this trip had come to be.
Before long, all were packed, fed, or at least caffeinated, and all were then piling into the Uber minivan they had ordered, which arrived a surprising five minutes early.
From there, it was back to the airport, followed by a quick and comparatively easy glide through airport security.
Lunch was taken at the food court, with the group seeking whatever local cuisine they could between their ever-present and ever-tasteless McDonald's and Sbarro's.
and then soon it was time to board as they boarded tim was wholly surprised when a flight attendant asked him if he would like an upgrade to first class as several seats that had been sold remained vacant and at the urging of his friends he happily accepted the impromptu upgrade
Pulling his phone out just before takeoff, Tim was supremely irritated to see that for some reason his phone had failed to load over half of his contacts, which irked him further as he'd hoped to call the club manager he was booked with to confirm his next gig.
The two went back a ways, but inexplicably only a few of his contacts populated as he cursed the phone in service before turning it off and slipping it into his pocket.
With nearly seven hours to go, his sleep was once again deep and dreamless.
There was a comfort there that he had the wits or wherewithal to recognize in his sleeping state.
He would most certainly describe it as Zen.
However, as he drifted in that void, right up until the wheels of the plane made their thudding and screeching contact with the pavement, that he had even half a mind to think on such things.
Waking up with a jostle, his mind struggled to hold onto that sense of absence and nothingness as one might an extraordinary dream.
Yet soon the bright light of reality took hold, and he was asked to leave his seatbelt on until the plane had come to a full stop at the terminal.
