Every day at WAGEC, we have 200 women and children who stay with us and we hear stories like this all the time.

And sadly, not uncommon, you know.

And I think this is the drive for us in the work that we do, you know.

No one should have to go through that.

No mum, no kids, no family members, you know, no one.

But the reality on the ground is that

These are the kind of stories, and much worse, honestly, that women are living through every day.

And we just owe the women we serve, you know, every bit of care and support because, you know, the strength that they show...

and the determination to try and move forward to create a better life for those little babies and those kids um we should honor it we really should honor it because the courage of the those women is just tremendous yeah

Yeah.

So for me, that night after that had happened, I really had nowhere else to go anyway.

So I ended up back in my parents' house, you know, so I'd just got my little baby daughter and, you know, I couldn't get back in the house and I didn't want to be there either because he'd been arrested but when he was going to get out...

You know, I didn't know.

I knew that he would go straight back to that house, that he'd be looking for me, that he'd be very angry after the police being involved.

So that didn't feel like a safe place to be.

And I went to my parents' house, you know, and I was in pretty bad shape.

Obviously, you know, physical injuries and just emotionally...

But I had my daughter with me and was trying to find a safe place to be.
