you know, what was I going to, you know, what was I going to do?
What was I going to say?
You know, there I was in Hawaii and I was like, okay, there's one night.
That's what everyone tells me.
Every addict's like, this is the last time, this is the only night.
And that's just never going to happen when you struggle with addiction.
And so the one night turned into two, the two nights turned into a week, the, you know, the week turned into a month.
And then, you know, from there it was, I couldn't even really make it to college.
I didn't, you know, I hardly went.
almost impossible.
And I don't want to say impossible.
Everyone has their journey and I respect everyone's journey.
And there are so many journeys to sobriety, but it is when we are faced with the things that take us out of our pain.
And the reason that most people use is because of a pain that we're in, no matter where that comes from, we are going to go back to what helped us self to what helped us, you know, find peace, be able to function in the world, be able to feel any,
bit of good.
So without that deep healing, without that pulling that apart, breaking that down, and coming to terms with why we started using in the first place, it's very hard.
It's very hard to find that peace without the substance.
Well, I mean, there's a couple of last times.
The last time in Hawaii, I was a homeless, drug-addicted prostitute and I was done.
And that's where the prologue opens.
